The World Cages

2023

The series "World Cages" consists of five paintings created as part of a commission for Private Choice 2023 exhibition. Abandoned children's beds and cribs found in the streets were reused as supports for these screen prints on cotton canvas. The slats and structure of the cribs were gilded, transforming these objects into golden cages to house representations of endangered birds.

This work aims to critique the mass construction of homes and buildings like the one housing the artworks, as well as the bourgeoisie who, at the expense of global biodiversity, enclose themselves in golden cages.
